Dr. Scott Mazzetti is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Sport Sciences, and the Director of the Laboratory for Human Performance at Salisbury University in Salisbury, Maryland.Dr. Mazzetti currently teaches courses such as Sports Nutrition and Research Methods at the undergraduate level, and Advanced Muscle Physiology and Exercise Metabolism in the Applied Health Physiology graduate program.He received his Ph.D. in Human Bioenergetics from the Human Performance Laboratory at Ball State University in 2003, and a Masters degree from the Pennsylvania State University in 1997.His research interests include skeletal muscle metabolism and muscle physiology, with emphasis on enhancing energy expenditure responses and adaptations for optimal weight loss and weight management programs. Dr. Mazzetti developed the Laboratory for Human Performance at Salisbury University in 2008, and since then, the laboratory has helped prepare numerous students for careers in the Exercise Sciences, with special emphasis on undergraduate research.He was an Assistant Professor in Exercise Science at Anderson University in Indiana from 2004 to 2007, where he also led a student-centered research laboratory, the Human Performance Center.During his time at Ball State University, Dr. Mazzetti was also an Instructor of Exercise Science from 1998 to 2003.Dr. Mazzetti is an ACSM Certified Health and Fitness Instructor and an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.He has served on, or chaired, numerous research committees including the USARA Grant Awards Committee at SU, the Student Research Conference Committee at SU, and the MARC-ACSM Executive Board.
