Michael Holmstrup works as a full-time instructor in the department of Public and Allied Health Sciences at Delaware State University in Dover, DE. He is currently in the process of completing his doctoral thesis titled ‘The effects of physical activity timing on glucose and insulin excursions during frequent meal consumption in the healthy obese’ at Syracuse University, where he enjoyed several happy, but cold years, working as a Teaching Assistant in the Human Performance Laboratory. Michael has been very interested in the study of meal frequency and how different patterns of meal consumption can affect physiological processes since his time as a Master’s student at East Stroudsburg University. In addition, he likes to examine how different physiological and psychological characteristics, as well as underlying processes and nutritional knowledge, correlate with an individual’s accuracy in estimating the number of calories in meals. Michael has been active in the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the ACSM for the past several years, working in the capacity of Student Representative, Member-at-Large for the EXPO committee, and now Secretary/Treasurer. He feels lucky to have the continued opportunity to learn from the talented and hard-working members of the Executive Board; and experience the excitement of Mid-Atlantic ACSM with all of our great regional members. Michael’s favorite pastimes include doing Crossfit workouts with his wife Ria, playing and reading with his son Christian, and spending time with his daughter Mia.
